Melissa and Tom’s family – Columbus, Ohio family photographer

Every fall, I photograph Melissa and Tom’s growing family.  This time, we took the pictures at their new house and also included their newest baby, Eli.  It seems almost ridiculous to keep saying the same things over and over about how much I enjoy seeing them every year – seeing how the kids have grown from one fall to the next, seeing how Lily’s personality develops, how Henry has gone from looking like a baby to looking like a little boy, meeting Eli for the first time – but it’s true, so I’ll just keep saying it.  It really means a lot to me that I am asked to continually mark the milestones in the lives of my clients.  Thank you!

Jena and Justin – Franklin Park engagement session

Jena and Justin are an absolute blast.  I think they laughed the entire time we were together and were up for anything – swinging on the swings, lying in the leaves – so it was a really great session!  And you can’t go wrong with Franklin Park Conservatory – so many beautiful places for a variety of backdrops.

Condom Couture 2012 – Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio

I was honored to once again photograph Condom Couture benefiting Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, this being my third year for doing so and a very important year with an impending election that, if it goes the wrong way, could mean the end of funding for such a vital organization.  Regardless of your politics, defunding an organization that provides cancer screenings and much-needed health services for women is just wrong.  This annual fundraiser certainly helps, but we cannot afford to risk no federal funding.

Condom Couture gives fashion design students from CCAD approximately 800 condoms to construct amazing garments that grace the runway at Shadowbox Theater in the Brewery District.  It’s really hard to fathom that these beautiful outfits are made of condoms!  The designers raise the bar every year and this year’s showing was nothing short of phenomenal.

Here is a little preview of the highlights of Wednesday’s event, and once the gallery is live (www.karenevanspictures.com/photocart), 50% of all proceeds of any photo purchases will go directly to Planned Parenthood.
