The Sinclair Family – Columbus Ohio family photographer

Eileen is a friend of my old neighbor and my new neighbor, who is the sister-in-law of my old neighbor, both of whom recommended me to Eileen for family pictures while Eileen’s family was visiting from out of town over the Fourth of July holiday. We met up at Fancyburg Park in Upper Arlington, a park I never knew existed until I’d driven by and seen all the “Preserve Fancyburg Park” signs all over the neighborhood. It’s a lovely little neighborhood park and I can see why the neighbors would like to preserve it.

Eileen’s family came from both coasts for the holiday and it was great to meet them and hang out for a little while with the little ones, who were just as cute as buttons. They loved trying to catch bubbles and playing on the playground.

Riverside Neuroscience Center VIP Party – OhioHealth

Last week was the VIP party held for surgeons, architects, and all others who had a hand in bringing Riverside Methodist Hospital’s new Neuroscience Center to life. Each of four floors had live music and a dining station, and prior to the self-guided tours everyone was serenaded in a moving performance of Over the Rainbow by 125 members of the Harmony Project, an a cappella group of local volunteers. The building itself is beautiful and patient-centered, with private rooms with either windows toward an inner, lush green courtyard or to the outside, and it is a state-of-the-art building, to be sure. I toured it the week before the party to get the lay of the land prior to the event and to say that it is impressive is an understatement. What a lovely and important addition to our community! We are very lucky to have this facility and its wonderful and talented surgeons and staff.

Jake and Brad – Same-Sex Supreme Court Ruling Day Wedding

I met Jake and Brad the same day I met Betsy and Clara – the day the Supreme Court declared equal marriage rights to all citizens. Clara chased down their officiant to have him marry Jake and Brad on the spot after having just obtained their marriage license at the Franklin County Courthouse across the street, so I offered to photograph their wedding as well. For theirs, we headed into the park area, nestled in some trees. It was such a lovely little ceremony, with Betsy and Clara – and, of course, the Dispatch photographer again and the Ohio History Connection women – in attendance. Such a special, special day and the connection everyone felt to everyone else was so warm and genuine.

Congratulations, Jake and Brad and Betsy and Clara!!
