Sarah and Michael’s Maternity Session

Before I left for the workshop, I spent some time with Sarah and Michael shooting their maternity session. Sarah, as you may remember, was one of my 2005 brides and she is the owner of You’re Invited (www.youre-invited.net), an awesome invitation business. Things are going very well for Sarah in her business and she and Michael are excited to welcome their son, Dominic, into the world.

I went to their house where we got some fabulous shots – some of Sarah by herself and some really intimate shots of the two of them together. I love what we got and feel very fortunate to be able to continue our great friendship in this way.

Here are a few of my very many favorites from our session:

These are Sarah and Michael’s own baby shoes they wore when they were tiny little babes!

Congratulations, Sarah and Michael! I can’t wait to meet Dominic!!

Workshop

Wow. And do I mean wow! I’ve returned from my weeklong workshop in Dallas but I’m still processing everything I learned and all the experiences I had. Life-changing experiences, too. I’d heard it would be like that, but you never know how you’ll react once you’re in the throes of it, but I have to say – life-changing it was. From the absolutely crazy amazing talent of the photographers there and how welcoming and supportive and friendly they all were, to the people who were the subjects of my assignments, it all was more than I can adequately put into words right now. The past week truly was inspiring on a multitude of levels.

So, for right now, I’ll leave it at that, but check back because once I get my feet back on the ground I’ll be posting some images from my two-day assignment at McKinney Fire Station #4.

Yay!

Hi Karen! It was so nice to spend some time with you (ok, not nearly enough… but certainly the time I did hang with you was fun). You did a phenomenal job at the workshop!!!

Feb. 24-Feb. 29

The week of February 24 through February 29 promises to be my trial by fire as I head to Dallas to attend a workshop given by the best photojournalists in the wedding industry. It’s always been my goal to tell a story in my images, and the assignments and critiques and hard work of the coming week will all go toward making me better at that.

I’m excited and nervous, to say the least, but it will be soooooo worth it, not only for me, but for YOU!

But why I’m posting about this now instead of afterward is because once I leave, I will not have access to e-mail and I wanted you all to know that. So you can send them, but a reply won’t come until the following week. However, if you really need to get me, you can always call me at 614-203-2113 and leave a message and I will try my very hardest to call you as soon as I can.

For my trip, Hildy will be staying with her good friend Lori Price, who runs PawsitiveEnergy, just absolutely the best doggie daycare ever. Find her at www.pawsitiveenergy.com. She’s simply amazing and Hildy loves loves loves her. All I have to do is say, “do you want to go see Lori??” and she goes ballistic!

And, as for Howie, big man that he is, a friend will be coming to stay at my house with him all week so he won’t be lonely. And for that I’m very grateful!!

So, that’s the scoop for next week! I hope to come back refreshed and rejuvenated after having my butt kicked by the best in the business!!! Woohoo!
