Long ago, back in my corporate world days, my office was right across the hall from Tammy’s. She left the law firm before I did, but I’d since seen her at one of my weddings and then was invited over to photograph her adorable son Lucas on the day of his first birthday party. Lucas was dressed to the nines when I got there, all dapper in his seersucker suit coat and tie.
As you may remember, my dear friend Karen suffered the terrible and tragic loss of her son Ian, now almost a year ago. Last Friday, I went with Karen to the dedication of a tree planted on the grounds of the Grandview school Ian attended in honor of his too-short life. It was a touching occasion filled with Ian’s family and school friends, and I’ve commemorated it with these photos.
The other part of my double-header Detroit-area wedding weekend was spent in the company of Caryn and Judd and their very fun and funny friends for their wedding at the Detroit Zoo and the Inn at St. John. Again, this wedding came to me via Melissa, and I couldn’t have been happier to help her out and to have been so welcomed by her clients.
Caryn and Judd and their friends braved the cold for a tram ride to take pictures around the Detroit Zoo – it might’ve been April, but it was freezing outside – and then held their ceremony in the beautiful atrium. Then it was back to the Inn at St. John for their rockin’ reception.
