Weaving update – Columbus Cultural Arts Center

I’ve been plugging away at the weaving per my usual routine, and since I just finished my first rag rug (all but the final details) and have started a new rug with what’s left of the previous rug’s warp, I thought it would be a good time to write an update.

The first rug is not yet cut off the loom.  I need to finish the edges and do a little fringe.  As with the scarf, it ended up being considerably longer than original estimates.  Like, significantly longer.  The finished rug was to be 30 by 40 and it ended up being 30 by about 51, with at least 30 more inches of warp left, hence the start of a new little rug.

I absolutely LOVE the first rug.  It is so cute and I almost can’t believe I made it!

The red is the “junk”, which I decided to make a design element because it looked so nice.

When I came in last week, the teacher bunny had left me a present.

I’m really liking the way my new rug is coming along.  I ended up with a lot of green fabric left over, so I am using mop cord to make up a new design.
