I just happened to be looking through some older pictures – personal pictures – and came across one that always makes me smile, so I thought I’d put it up here for a Why I Like This Picture post.
First off, I like this picture because it’s of my beloved Murray, who is just the craziest most adorable, smartest and most beautiful cat ever. (Sorry, that’s not up for debate.)
Second, I just love the shot and the story it tells. He’d just come from the groomer, where his long, luxurious coat had been trimmed to a “lion cut”, keeping his mane intact and ending in a giant poof on his tail. He went into the little half bath off the family room where my office is located, hopped up on the counter, and is looking into the mirror. Funny enough on its own, but add that poofy tail and the slightly exaggerated look of the wide angle lens along with the tiniest of tilts, and to me it becomes a priceless story of my baby that I will cherish.
Pictures are like that – if they’re of a great moment and happen to also be interesting to look at from a compositional standpoint – they’ll be enjoyable for a lifetime.
All things I strive for when making images for my clients!
