I love Jewish weddings. Maybe it’s because of the ceremonies within the ceremony or because everyone dances at the reception. Who knows? What I do know, though, is that when I have wonderful families to shoot for, it makes for a great wedding and great pictures.
Aliza and Ben live in North Carolina but were married at Congregation Tifereth Israel, with their reception in the ballroom at The Westin. I started first with the rehearsal dinner at Ben’s parents’ house and then got to document Ben and his groomsmen having straight-razor shaves at Mug & Brush. If you’re not familiar, Mug & Brush is an old-timey barbershop with lots of funky memorabilia on the walls and uber-hip tattooed young barbers. In other words, it was lots of photographer eye candy.
And, despite the pouring rain on my way to The Westin to photograph the girls getting ready, the weather cleared up nicely and we were able to do outdoor bride/groom portraits.
