Weaving at Columbus Cultural Arts Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, I&#8217;ve gone and woven me a scarf.\u00a0 The world&#8217;s longest scarf.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 With every weaving project, there is extra length\/width built in to account for &#8220;drawing in&#8221; and shrinkage and some allowance for practicing the weave, but when I took the scarf off the loom and put it around my neck, it dragged on the floor on both sides by a foot or more.\u00a0 Hey, when I weave, I<em> weave.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I knew last week that I had only a yard or so left to weave and it went quickly today and then it was time to weave a few lines of junk and cut the scarf off the loom.\u00a0 As the teacher has emphasized throughout, it&#8217;s always scary when scissors are near your project.\u00a0 I had cut about 3\/4 of the scarf off the loom when the teacher exclaimed, &#8220;oh no!&#8221;\u00a0 I about had a heart attack until I realized that comment was directed at someone else.\u00a0 I can laugh about it now.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1710\" title=\"weaving-12\" src=\"http:\/\/kep.goodgallery.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-12.jpg 612w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-12-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-12-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-12-160x160.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, on to unwinding the scarf from the apron.\u00a0 And unwinding.\u00a0 And unwinding.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1711\" title=\"weaving-13\" src=\"http:\/\/kep.goodgallery.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-13.jpg 612w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-13-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-13-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of my classmates wrapped me up, so I headed into the restroom for a quick self-portrait.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1715\" title=\"weaving-15\" src=\"http:\/\/kep.goodgallery.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-15.jpg 612w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-15-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/karenevanspictures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/weaving-15-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The final few steps are choosing\/applying a fringe technique and washing, and then *poof* &#8211;
